Registered nurse - graduate

We offer 12-month placements for graduate nurses. These are done in 6 month rotations between either Longreach Hospital and Winton Hospital or Barcaldine Hospital and Blackall Hospital.

The placements are for 64 to 76 hours per fortnight. We encourage our graduates to apply for permanent roles and continue working with us.

Our rural facilities have one general ward where you will care for:

Our rural facilities also have 1 or 2 bed emergency departments which our graduates work in.

Three of our rural health facilities are multipurpose health services (MPHS). This means they are both an acute facility as described above, as well as having residential aged care. Six months of your rotation will be at an MPHS and the other 6 months will be in an acute facility.

How to apply

Recruitment opens in July and ends in August with interviews held early October. Graduates are appointed through 2 intakes in February and May.

Orientation will coincide with your start date.
